An embalming room, sometimes called "prep room", is a place few lay people ever see. It has become even more restricted with the advent of OSHA regulations. Technically, anyone who has not received safety training in formaldehyde exposure is barred from entrance. Yet, many states' laws allow a family member to be present.
I swore I would not reminisce but - I remember when we embalmed Roman Catholic nuns years ago, there was always another Sister in the embalming room during the process.
