Dimond And Sons, Silver Bell Chapel

Your Questions

Good morning. Where I live, in Oregon, funeral homes absorb the cost of a child or infant's funeral. Even the casket costs and services. Is that a common practice across the US?
I don't have any statistics, but, my experience has been that it is quite common in many areas. We have always provided these services at no charge for infants. The historical reason for the practice involves the fact that most newborn infants are not covered by insurance which often only becomes effective after ninety days. That is why we charge for merchandise after one year and then use a sliding scale for professional service charges. It's just one of the services many funeral directors offer their communities and few people know about it.
